Cast for Kids Stand-up Paddleboard Fishing Tournament

Second Annual “Cast for Kids” Stand-up Paddleboard Fishing Tournament

POMPANO BEACH, FL – On Saturday June 25th, paddleboarders, surfers and fisherman alike can simply cast a line to support community children with special needs during the 2nd Annual “Cast for Kids” Stand-up Paddleboard Fishing Tournament.

The annual tournament is presented by ARK Boards and Board Sports Productions to raise funds for Broward Children’s Center’s educational, therapeutic, and medical programs for children with special needs.

“As a local nonprofit organization, we are very grateful to have the support of our community. During these difficult economic times we are fortunate that we can count on civic-minded individuals to help fund critical services and programming for some of the most at-risk children in the nation,” said CEO Marjorie Evans.

The tournament will see participants turn paddleboards and surf boards into eco-friendly fishing platforms to compete in capturing the largest fish, most fish, and overall total weight. Spectators and participants will enjoy a post-event party, food and refreshments for purchase, music, awards ceremony, and the chance to win fantastic raffle prizes. The tournament will begin and end at the Pompano Beach Fishing Pier located on Ocean Blvd in Pompano Beach.

Pre-registration is $50.00 and $60.00 the day of the event, while admission is free of charge to spectators. The tournament begins at 6:00am with a Bimini start, weigh-in at 12:00pm, and an awards ceremony and after party beginning 1:00pm.

Last year’s winners reeled in a 10.9 pound King Mackerel in the individual category and a 15.5 pound Bonita in the team category. Winners received plaques, fishing rods, apparel, and of course bragging rights for winning a one-of-a-kind event.
