Little knee high, high tide surge on the beach this morning at Lauderdale-by-the-Sea. Looking at the cams there might be a few sandbars around Deerfield and Boca holding a SUPable, maybe longboardable wave. The tide is dropping this morning and it’s starting off to be a nice beach day.

So the forecast for Tuesday isn’t looking as good for down here. They’re still calling for a NE swell to fill in Monday night but it doesn’t look like it’ll make down past the Bahamas blockage too far. As of now Magic Seaweed is calling for the winds to be offshore Tuesday and there is a secondary east swell filling north of the Bahamas so it might be worth going upcoast. It’s always tough to forecast this time of year as we transition from Tropical to winter system development. There’s two tropical lows heading our way with a high pressure on top of us. Typically that would give us a nice gradient squeeze but none of the forecast are calling for much wind this week for south Florida. I guess that means we’ll have to keep an eye on the ocean and hope we catch an open window.

The wave models are showing a nice pulse for next Monday. Little too far out to get excited but at least it’s something to keep an eye on.
