Indonesia’s Calm before the storm

As the island of Sumbawa has treated us well, it has also kept us all on our toes.  Either with the constant change of the waves with tides, winds and weather or the reminder that simply getting bit by a mosquito could mean malaria for life.  We ventured here to find more of the same: waves but in reality it was all about traveling to a new place and getting to meet new people.  All the local kids so stoked on surfing and 10 year old paddling into bombs always puts a smile on your face!  The people live off the land, through salt farms, rice patties, seaweed collection, fishing or one of the many other ways of making it happen.  And by the way, the massage lady at the Aman Gati Hotel makes mean chocolate doughnuts!  At an average salary of just over $3 a day, if they can live a full life then we should too.  We are headed back to Bali and ready for a new swell to hit.  I am sick as a dog writing this, but now is not the time to sit around inside!  Stay tuned for what is suppose to be one of the best swells of the season to hit the Indo coasts…..
